How Maya Went from Beginner to Featured Designer in 3 Months

The beginning

When Maya joined NewForm in April, she was a marketing coordinator with zero design experience. She'd never opened Figma, didn't know what a design system was, and had never heard of kerning.

Three months later, her challenge submission was featured on our Instagram to over 2 million followers. She's now freelancing as a UI designer.

Here's how she did it.

Month 1: Building fundamentals

Maya's first month was about consistency, not perfection.

• Completed all 4 weekly challenges, even when she hated her work

Her winning submission was a budgeting app designed for young professionals, a problem she lived every day. The authenticity showed.
